Your Eye Test Explained: Our 5-Step Process

1

Registration / History and Symptoms

Complete a quick registration, then discuss your vision concerns, lifestyle, health history, and previous eye treatments with our doctor.

2

Pre-Screening

Pre-screening includes eye pressure testing, retinal imaging, and vision assessment to detect issues and establish a baseline.

3

Main Eye Tests

Advanced eye examinations check vision clarity, internal structures, and eye health, helping detect issues like glaucoma early.

4

Diagnosis and Recommendations

After examination, our optometrist explains results, recommends treatment or referral, and provides your prescription with trial lenses if needed.

5

Treatment if you need prescription glasses

We offer on-the-spot glazing for standard vision lenses and typically fit these in 15-20 minutes.

FAQ

A standard eye exam focuses on your prescription. A Medical Evaluation at SpecSMART Eye Clinic investigates the physical health of the eye structures, looking for diseases like glaucoma or AMD.

Co-management ensures a seamless experience: a top-tier surgeon performs the procedure, while SpecSMART handles your pre-op prep and post-op healing in your community.

Yes. Our Contact Lens Clinic specializes in both standard lifestyle lenses and medical specialty lenses

While not mandatory, we highly recommend an OCT Scan for adults over 40, diabetics, or those with a family history of glaucoma.

The Gold Standard

The Gold Standard in Diagnostic Technology

At SpecSMART Eye Clinic, we believe that you cannot treat what you cannot see.

We have invested in a suite of hospital-grade diagnostic tools that allow our Optometrists to look deeper into your ocular health than ever before.

The OCT is the "MRI for the eye." Unlike a standard photograph, the OCT uses light waves to capture a 3D cross-section of your retina, showing us individual layers in microscopic detail.

Why it matters:

It can detect signs of GlaucomaDiabetic Retinopathy , and AMD up to 5 years before they are visible during a standard eye exam.

The Experience:

Non-invasive, no bright flashes, and completed in under 120 seconds.

While the OCT looks under the surface, the Fundus Camera captures a high-resolution, wide-angle map of the surface of your retina.

Why it matters:

This creates a permanent digital record of your eye health. We use these images to track tiny changes in blood vessels for our Diabetic patients and to monitor pigment changes over time.

The Experience:

A quick, painless photograph. No physical contact with the eye.

This technology maps your peripheral (side) vision. Many conditions, such as glaucoma or neurological issues, cause "blind spots" that the brain naturally hides.

Why it matters:

This is the only way to measure how your optic nerve is communicating with your brain. It is vital for Glaucoma Management and meeting legal driving vision standards.

The Experience:

You look into a bowl-shaped instrument and click a button whenever you see a small light blink in your periphery.

Technology & Pricing FAQ

Many sight-threatening conditions often have no symptoms in early stages. Advanced scans allow us to see structural damage years before you notice vision loss.

No. All our diagnostic technology is non-contact and non-invasive. It is as easy as taking a photograph.

We recommend a baseline scan every 1–2 years. However, if you are over 50, diabetic, or have a family history of glaucoma, our Optometrists may recommend more frequent monitoring.
