At SpecSMART Eye Clinic, a contact lens exam goes beyond your prescription. Using Advanced Diagnostic Technology, we measure the curvature of your eye and evaluate your tear film. This ensures your dailies or monthlies provide the best possible oxygen flow and moisture retention for long-term corneal health.

The SpecSMART Eye Clinic Guide to Contact Lens Success
Everything you need to know for healthy, comfortable, and clear vision.
1 The Golden Rules of Hygiene
- Wash and Dry: Always wash your hands with lint-free soap and dry them completely. Water is a source of bacteria.
- Fresh Solution Every Time: For monthly lenses, never "top off" old solution. Discard used liquid and fill the case with fresh solution every night.
- The "No Water" Rule: Never rinse your lenses or case with tap water.
2 Insertion & Removal Made Easy
- The Taco Test: Place the lens on your fingertip. If the edges flare out like a soup bowl, it's inside out. If it looks like a perfect "U" (a taco shape), it's ready to go.
- The "Look Up" Method: If you're struggling, look upward and place the lens on the white part of your eye, then gently slide it over the center and blink.
3 Managing Comfort & Dryness
- Blink More: We blink 60% less when looking at screens. Remind yourself to blink fully to re-wet the lens.
- Lens-Safe Drops: Only use re-wetting drops approved for your specific lens type. If dryness persists, visit our Dry Eye Clinic.
5 Why Your Annual Check-up Matters
A contact lens is a medical device. During your annual Contact Lens Evaluation, we ensure your lenses aren't causing microscopic changes to your eye surface and check for the latest lens technologies that could improve your comfort.
The "STOP" Signals (Remove lenses and call us immediately if you see:)
- R - Redness that doesn't go away.
- S - Sharp pain or unusual discomfort.
- V - Vision that is suddenly blurred or foggy.
