Cataract Evaluation &Surgical Co-Management
Restoring Clarity and Color
A cataract is a natural clouding of the eye’s internal lens, often resulting in "foggy" vision, glare at night, or faded colors. At SpecSMART, we guide you through every step of the journey—from your first diagnosis to the day you see clearly again
Our"Co-Management" Model
We believe surgery is only one part of the process. We provide Surgical Co-Management, which offers you the best of both worlds:
Surgical Candidacy Evaluation
We determine if your cataracts are ready for removal and discuss the different lens options available.
Expert Referral
We coordinate your care with the region’s leading ophthalmic surgeons.
Local Post-Operative Care
Instead of traveling back to a surgical center for multiple follow-ups, you receive your post-surgical health checks right here at Specsmart.
Personalized Vision Refinement
After your surgery,
our optometrists and Dispensing Opticians work with you to provide the final "refinement." Whether you need specialized reading glasses or high-performance sunglasses to protect your new lenses, we ensure your post-cataract vision is optimized for your lifestyle.
Cataract FAQ
Generally, when cataracts begin to interfere with your daily activities—like driving at night or reading—it is time to consider surgery. We will help you make that decision during your Medical Eye Evaluation.
No, once a cataract is removed, it cannot return. However, some patients develop a "secondary cataract" (cloudy capsule), which we can easily identify during your follow-up and this can be treated with a quick laser procedure.
